Andersons Mill Festival is held at Smeaton every year and it is a wonderful family event. Darren and Leanne were on hand to teach adults and children how to pan for gold.

Food, wine, music, a petting zoo, horse and cart rides, shearing demonstrations, woodwork, artists and various stalls were all a part of this vibrant fair run by the Newlyn Football Netball Club.

Andersons Mill is a 5 storey bluestone building with an iron water wheel still intact.  It was built as an oat and flour mill after the goldrush in 1861.  The building is listed on the Historic Buildings Register and the National Estate Register of the Australian Heritage Commission, and is also classified by the National Trust.
