He is the envy of a lot of prospectors and he is only 16 years old. Colac teenager, Khalid, along with his mother Emma have been bitten by the gold the bug. Emma and Khalid have gone out on tour with Gold & Relics several times and this time Khalid hit paydirt. 

Khalid said “Its my first big nugget and its very hard to find nuggets of this kind of size, so I’d like to keep it for the future. My friends didnt believe me at first.” Khalid found the 60 gram gold nugget near a motorbike track at the end of the day. “We were going across the path and it picked up a sound so we started digging. We got about 10 inches underground and there was this big clump of dirt where the metal was. Khalid’s mother said “I reckon there have been a thousand bikes which have ridden over that.”

Khalid said his success made him keen to continue gold prospecting in the future. “I enjoy having the hunt and trying to find it” he said. “Im going to keep on doing it and go out and buy a metal detector and all that.”
